Bright Modern Quilt Along

I finished this small quilt this week. It started out as a quilt along with Amy Gibson of stitcherydickorydock.com. I made eleven of the 12 blocks, but in the end did not like the final setting, so the blocks sat in a box on the shelf for a few years.

I went back to her website when I decided to write this blog post, but she does not seem to be updating her blog, and I couldn’t find the original quilt design. It was offered as part of her Sugar Club Block of the Month in 2016.

Anyway, I used nine of the blocks on the front, one on the back, and I still have one that I didn’t use because I didn’t like it, and also, it was a little too small for some reason. Here’s the back:

I actually think I like the back better than the front! This quilt will be going to its new home this weekend. I have a young friend that is suffering from long term effects of Covid-19. I’m hoping this little quilt can add some sunshine to her life!

Here’s another quilt made from the same quilt along. This one was made by Jean Hoerr. She’s a member of my online guild, Quilting Around the World.

She made all twelve blocks but also put them in her own setting. And I must say: it is stunning! I especially love her ribbon sashing.
